Mac Fun
Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

Hey guys, just a little bit of fun. As you might have guessed from the rather biased ads, I’m an avid Mac user. Surprisingly you’ll probably be able to relate with a lot of the issues brought up in these ads, and who knows, you might even find out something you didn’t know about Macs.

Anyway, that’s all for this week. If you get a chance, check out your nearest Apple store, they really are worth a look at.

Until next time,

Networking Advice from Robyn Henderson
Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

Today’s success tip comes from Robyn Henderson.

In 1992, she authored and self-published her first networking book and is now regarded as a “Global Networking Specialist”. She has written and contributed to more than 25 books on networking, self-esteem and self-promotion.

What is networking and how can everyday people use it to expand their opportunities?

Networking is a life skill, not just something you do when you want something. There are three universal laws that form the foundations of ethical networking.

1. Giving without expectations - the basic principle of helping others without an expectation of receiving something in return. It’s about being able to give someone a key piece of information or assistance that will enable them to achieve their goal, complete their task or assist them in some way. In the bestseller, Masters of Networking, Ivan Misner says, ‘Master networkers give without remembering and receive without forgetting’. This is the key to giving without expectation.

2. Understand the law of reciprocity - what you give out comes back tenfold, but not always from the same person. If you give out referrals you will receive referrals; if you give out love you will receive love; give out help and advice, receive help and advice. Good networkers are strong believers of this law of reciprocity, which also states ‘what goes around, comes around’. So this single belief ensures that you always treat people the way you would like to be treated.

3. Have an abundance mentality - in our time-poor, competitive society, abundant thinkers are often in short supply. These are the people who may still be challenged about the best way to build their careers or businesses, but ethical networkers have an underlying belief system that there is plenty for everyone. That is, plenty of opportunities for their product or service on a local, national and international scale, even though there does not appear to be sufficient market share for everyone. They know future markets may be only a personal contact away, a friend of a friend, a chance conversation, a serendipitous meeting with another. Abundant thinkers are open to ideas, networking opportunities and making the pie bigger for everyone.

People wishing to expand career or business opportunities can include networking skills into their daily and weekly plan by:

* Attending a networking event once a week.

* Allocating 15 minutes per day for networking activity. This could be a specific phone call to someone in your network, a fax, email, or sending a small gift or thank you card.

Until next time,

Creating an Online Business
Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

There are many different online businesses that you can create and in this blog today we are going to look at a couple of different types.

The first kind of businesses that you can create when looking to create an online business would be a website which serves a particular niche in the market. Many people have done this and this is often done by trying to find an under served niche, building a website, and then profiting off of this small but profitable match. Check out this great site to find more information on this particular topic. Here the author has created a website which finds under served niches which you could potentially build a website around. When you’re building a website, you’re going to want to find cheap keywords that you can use to help build your business as well as create good content. By creating the content and then creating back links between yourself and other websites, you’ll be setting yourself up to have a high page rank with Google. By using AdWords to bring traffic to your website and then also developing your natural search engine traffic through building up a website, you will have built yourself a very solid business. This is just one way of creating online business.

Another way to you can build and create an online business is through eBay. This is an area which was particularly hot several years ago and still remains a solid business proposition. Many people are able to make a full-time income on eBay. You will need to find a wholesaler where you can get products at a discount to sell on eBay. The general idea when working on selling on eBay is to find a drop shipper. A definition of a drop shipper is a wholesaler sells you a product and will ship the product to a customer. You will buy the product at the wholesale price and then make money on the difference between what you buy the product for and sell the product for on eBay. Using the wholesaler allows you to focus on selling the product without worrying about stocking the product. You do not need to worry about any sort of shipping or backend but you will want to make sure that everything gets sent out. If there are problems with shipments, the customer will be coming back to you and not to the wholesaler to. If you go to World Wide Brands, you will find one of the best wholesale shipping directories on the Internet.

These are two of the different ideas in creating an online business. There are many ways to make money on the Internet but these are two proven methods. You will not have to use a lot of money up front to create these particular online businesses and these businesses can be something that you will have great deal of success with.

That’s all for this week, check back again next week for more advice.

Until then,

Hey guys! Tehillah here.

Welcome to part two of Teaching Your Bird The ‘Step Up‘ Command.

Last week we covered the area of getting your bird used to you. That step is really the most important, because if your bird doesn’t feel comfortable with you around, the chances that it’ll learn what you’re trying to teach it, are very low.

Ok, so, following on from last week.

Sit down on the floor and take the cloth off your bird. It might be a little ruffled, so left it relax and become used to it’s new surroundings.
Remember, your bird may try to escape from you, if it does, gently pick it up and bring it back. Never chase your bird around, you’ll only make it frightened of you.

Gently push your hand against your bird’s belly and say the words “step up” or “hop up” even just the word “up”. Most birds will step up as soon as they feel something press against their belly. The moment your bird steps onto your hand, praise it. Say things like “good boy/girl” or “good bird” or even “good [bird's name]“. Make sure your voice reflects that you’re happy. If you yell “good bird” angrily, your bird won’t interpret this as a praise.

Continue to do this until your bird gets the hang of it. This can take quite a while, or your bird may catch on very quickly. In any event, make sure you’re going at your bird’s pace, and not your own. Don’t try to rush things, as this will only stress you and your bird out.

After each training session, when you put your bird back in it’s cage, put some millet or fresh fruit or vegetables in the cage as a treat. Most birds love to nibble at pieces of carrot or apple.
This way your bird will be more than happy to come out of the cage to play, as it expects a nice reward afterwards.

The more time you spend with your bird, the more of a bond you and the bird will have. Teaching your bird to step up onto your hand is just the beginning. There’s virtually no limit to the things you can teach him/her.

Be creative, be patient and of course, have fun! Training your bird doesn’t have to be a chore, it can be fun for all those involved.

Til next time,

Tehillah Poole.

Today’s success tip comes from Lisa McInnes-Smith.

At 26 years of age, Lisa set her biggest goal: positively affect one million Australian teenagers, a goal that was to change her life. In the 8½ years it has taken to achieve her goal, Lisa has travelled the country speaking in schools and youth groups.

Even though the majority of people know how important it is to have goals, why do you think so many fail to set them?

Most people know the theory behind goal setting but their fear is often times greater than the excitement of the goal. So many people’s lives are run by fear - fear of failure, fear of disappointment, fear of letting people down, fear of success, and fear of the unknown. Others thrive on faith, the possibility of success, of overcoming, of succeeding, of making a difference, of making a whole new pathway for themselves, believing in what hasn’t yet come to pass. It takes faith to set goals and it takes faith to fight off the fear in all of our lives.

Fear is a formidable foe; it’s entangled in our thinking, our beliefs and our thoughts about the future. Fear is what most people think they must conquer before they go after their goals. Funnily enough, in many ways goal setting is a pathway to defeating fear. Every step toward the goal pushes people’s fear further away. Competence builds confidence and confidence leads to action. Action achieves goals.

So why is it that so many people fail to set goals?

1. They don’t take time to write them down.

2. They don’t make time to read them.

3. They don’t make a plan to reach each goal.

4. They don’t write down benefits of achieving each goal.

Not one of these steps are hard to do so, but it just takes a decision to get started and a commitment to follow through.

I hope you have learned from this week’s advice. Be sure to check back again next time for more great tips from the experts.

Until then,

Allan Poole

Take The First Step!
Monday, July 6th, 2009

Hi Friends

“So what is the first step towards achieving your goals and what you want in life?”, you may ask.

Many people talk about making changes in their lives and yet often nothing seems to change. Why is this?

Often you may hear people talking about the fact that they are not satisfied with their lives and the way that things are currently going. Why then does nothing change – even when they want things to be better and different?

Today’s quote, I believe contains part of the answer. In order to make changes in your lives, you first need to actually find out what it is that you want. You need to really take the time to sit down and decide what it is that you want to change.

*

QUOTE OF

THE DAY:

” The indispensable first step to getting the things you want out of life is this: decide what you want.”

- Ben Stein

I encourage you today to set aside some time and actually come to decision of what it is that you want changed. This is the first step to a better future for you and those you care about.

Until next time, Remember to Enjoy Life, Smile at a stranger and Make a Difference in the World!

Hey guys, Tehillah here.

For those of you out there who have pet birds, this command might come in handy. Many people have birds that simply sit in the cage all day. There may be one of several reasons for this, such as an aggressive bird, or the owner doesn’t have time to spare to get the bird out. But the most common reason is simply that the bird is not trained, it constantly flies up into hard to get places, just out of reach, and the owner just doesn’t know how to train it.
Keep in mind that any bird can be trained, with a certain amount of patience.

The ‘step up‘ command is a big step in the right direction when training a bird. The aim of this command is to teach your bird to step up onto your hand, or long thin object such as a broom handle [in situations where the bird is out of reach, eg: up on top of a closet or curtain rod] when it’s told to.

Firstly, regardless of whether you’re dealing with a new bird, or a bird that has spent years in a cage on your verandah, you need to get the bird used to your presence before you even think about getting it out of the cage.
To do this, simply spend some time by the cage each day, talking to your bird in a relaxed voice. The more time you spend around your bird, the more accustomed it will become to seeing you around, and less likely to see you as a threat.

Once your bird is used to you being close to the outside of the cage, it’s time for you to get it used to you being inside the cage with it.
Of course by this I don’t mean try cramming yourself inside the cage with your bird, I simply mean it’s time to put your hand in the cage.
Place some millet, or just some of your bird’s food in the palm of your hand, slowly open the cage door just enough to get your hand inside, and hold your hand towards your bird. The first few times you do this, your bird will more than likely back into a corner or flap around in the cage. What ever you do, never chase the bird around the cage, let it come to you.
After some time, and the time varies a lot depending on the bird’s personality [some are much shyer than others], the bird will eventually creep closer to your hand, and may even hop up onto your hand to eat some seed.
Remember, it will take a lot of patience, but having a bird that isn’t afraid of you is the first step to training it, and it really is worth it.

It’s time to get your bird out of it’s cage. During training, it’s always a good idea to have your bird’s wings clipped. It doesn’t hurt the bird in any way, but it does save a lot of time getting your bird down from tricky places. Remember, only the long flight feathers should be cut, and wings should, if possible, be clipped by someone who has some experience with birds.
Ok, so back to getting the bird out of it’s cage. using a soft cloth, remove your bird from the cage, keeping it in the cloth until you’re in the room you plan to train your bird in. A room with few distractions is best, such as the bathroom. Make sure the window is closed and the toilet seat down, we don’t want Birdy taking a surprise bath.

That’s all we have time for this week! Sorry to leave you guys on a cliffhanger.
Hang around and read part two next week!

Til then,

Tehillah Poole.

Keep You Eyes On Your Goals!
Wednesday, July 1st, 2009

Hi Friends

Here we are now half way through another year! Wow where has the time gone? Let’s agree together to make the second half of 2009 a fantastic time in our lives.

Let’s agree to continue to take steps towards our goals and those things that are important to us.

Let’s look at our quote for today.
*

QUOTE OF

THE DAY:

“Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal.”

- Henry Ford

Have you ever experienced this? When you take your eyes off your goals and then see all of the circumstances around you that can sometimes be quite frightening? Well, I know that I have. This is something that I need to set my mind to each day to determine that I will continue to focus on my goals and move towards them!

There is an interesting story in the Bible; you may have heard it, where Peter was in a boat on the Sea of Galilee with the other disciples. The wind was strong and the waves were big and choppy. Next thing they saw Jesus walking on the water. The next bit is interesting. Peter said, “Lord, if it is You then command me to walk on the water.”

Peter then got out of the boat and began to walk on the water. He was the only one of the disciples who is recorded as having ever walked on the water.

As long as Peter kept his eyes on the goal of walking to Jesus, he was fine. But in the moment that he took his eyes of the goal and saw the wind and huge waves around him, then he began to sink!

Have you ever felt like that? Have you ever been heading towards your goal and then something got your attention and caused you to take your eyes off your goal?

Learn a lesson here from Peter. Keep your eyes today on what is important to you – on your goals! Take one step at a time towards them and you will become closer each day to seeing your goals become a reality.

Until next time, Remember to Enjoy Life, Smile at a stranger and Make a Difference in the World.
